If you own a bakery, it’s clever marketing to offer many different types of bread to your customers. The more bread you have, the more attractive you become from your competitors and the more likely it is that your customers will stick with you.
The better bakeries also offer other things that their market likes, such as pastries, sweets, and chicken and pork rolls (yum!)
Online sports betting agencies are like a baker in this regard. The simple philosophy is; the more you offer the more people you’ll attract.
At one stage they started off with only racing and boxing, but soon discovered that there is a (very) hungry market that want to have a punt on a lot of other things.
What we see today is an impressive choice of things to bet on. It’s twice as impressive to mention that it was only just a few years ago when there was no where near the choices we have today. The benefits of having this large choice is:
- More punters in the market is a good thing for individuals
- You can find your niche sport to bet on
- You can place a bet on almost every sport(and reality show) you see on TV
No doubt betting agencies know all the benefits to offering a variety of choice. As time goes on, you’ll see more and more things to bet on. Hey I’m curious, what do you like to bet on – let me know below?
The big list of sports you can bet on
I have put together a list of sports that are on offer at most betting agencies. The list below is a combination of what you’ll find at two specific places. Betfair and TAB Sportsbet
- American Football
- Australian Rules
- Cross Sports Accumulators
- Gaelic Games
- Greyhound Racing
- House Racing
- Ice Hockey
- Mixed Martial Arts
- Motor Sports
- Rugby League
- Rugby Union
I’ll mention again that this list is from Betfair and TAB Sportsbet. It is possible that other betting agencies will not have as many choices for you, or they might even have more to choose from.
The choice is not limited to sports
Are you good at picking who’s going to win the next federal election? Do you think you can predict what the interest rate will do… will it go up? down? Can you pick who will win Dancing with the Stars? The X Factor and other reality shows?
The interesting thing is that these agencies have included another things you can put your money behind. Things such as:
- Financial results
- Winner of TV Shows
If I’m watching a show that I’m committed to watching throughout the entire season than I’ll place a bet on the outcome. MasterChef would be one such example. I had no idea that Adam would win 2010. I thought Marion would be the one to take it out. I was just as surprised as everyone else when she got the axe early on.
How the hell can anyone cook when you got these three guys breathing down your neck.
Is there something you want to bet on but is not available through any of the betting agencies? If there is, let me know about it in the comments below. Go on, lets see all the weird and wonderful stuff you come up with.
